My Commute
I realize I don't have a lot of inspirational things to say lately but this is where I am in the game, I look forward to the day when I can offer positive things when it comes to health.
I commute 35 miles each way to work everyday, 1/2 of that is traffic. I can commute 2-3 hours a day, depending on the traffic and time of year. This has been a thorn in my side the past 4.5 years I've worked at this job. I always have the best of intentions when I head out for the day to head to the gym after work. By the time I've dealt with the traffic on the way home I am spent, done. My energy and motivation has drifted away.
My job itself isn't that exhausting, I sit most of the day on the computer. My morning commute I'm still rather ok, I think because I'm still waking up for most of my drive home. It's the coming home part that seems to suck the last little bit of energy I have from me. Driving the extra 5 minutes to the gym, working out, drive another 5 minutes home just seems like too much at the end of the day.
I know, it's lazy, I have to get beyond it. I know that going I will feel better and less tired. I know that once I get into a habit (which I've done before) I will dread it less. This past week I've felt so tired that I have found myself nodding off on my drive home, I think this may have something to do with a medication change. If it weren't so hot I'd go for a walk after work just to get my energy back, maybe I will do it anyway.
Turns out this week I felt so tired was because I was either rundown or had a virus, if it's not one thing it's the other.

It isn’t lazy at all. A 2-3 hour commute is hellish. It seems, though, that you have a bit more energy in the morning. Maybe try working out before leaving for work?

The only problem is I have to leave the house by 6am. If somehow I could get to bed earlier then maybe I could get up for a run but I barely get out of bed with enough time to shower. It’s something I should consider though.

I was applying for a job that would involve the same commute and i decided that i would learn a second language, and get a ton of my favorite music on hand. Why not that’s how many hours a week just wasted. I know some of it would need to be used winding down from the day.
Please be careful while driving. I’ve been there and had to pull over. I keep having nightmares that I fell asleep driving but can’t open my eyes…because…i am actually sleeping not friving at all. Still freaky.
Happy Friday!
