The lessons never end.

Last night I went to the gym even though I really didn't want to, which is no different than most nights I go to the gym. I decided to do the elliptical because I haven't done it in a while. I love the elliptical, it's smoother and nicer to my knees. I can also read while on it, unlike the treadmill.

I was bummed though that in 20 minutes on the elliptical I only went .52 miles when in 20 minutes on the treadmill I go more than twice that. I did have a nice workout but I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that it didn't seem like I accomplished much. I know I did though, I not only speed up my heartrate but I worked muscles I don't normally work on, including my arms.

But I went to the gym. I worked out. I felt better. That's the whole point.

I came home and I was starving. I didn't finish my lunch because I just wasn't hungry and between noon and 6 when I came home all I had was a pear. So I ate too much and I knew it was more than I needed when I made it but I did it anyway. Then I had the worst indigestion of my entire life that lasted like 5 hours and made it nearly impossible to get to sleep.

And that was yesterday for me.

I hate the treadmill. I always think I’m going to fall off of it or something. I always use the elliptical. I don’t pay attention to how far I go, I check out the heartrate/calories. Congrats on dragging your ass to the gym though! I know how hard it can be! :D

well, you know I hate the elliptical, but for me it’s the opposite. I might can go “farther” in less time on the treadmill, but I burn more calories in less time on the elliptical. I can burn in five minutes on the elliptical what takes me a half hour to burn on the treadmill. Glad you went to the gym. Sorry I’ve not been around, thanks so much for your comments about my arm!

  3. I think the counter was wrong on that elliptical. Just sayin’.

@Jennifer Lynn, entirely possible, those machines are way out of date.

  4. I’ve never been a big fan of the counters on those machines. For instance ,the other day when I was out of town I used the treadmill at the hotel and I ran at a good clip for 40 minutes. It said I went 2.5 miles. That’s impossible – because I can do a 5K (3.1 miles) in about 32 minutes. So just don’t believe what they say and I’m just proud of you for doing it!!

@Diane Fit to the Finish, it’s really not fair, the counters are part of my motivation.

I don’t like the elliptical. As far as the distance, well, it’s a different machine entirely so you can’t really compare. The important thing is you went to the gym especially when you didn’t want to.
