My Weight History

Thinking 12 November 2009 | 12 Comments

Diane from Fit To Finish brought up an interesting topic, about when the weight problems started. I was a normal healthy child, in fact some might even say I was pretty tiny when I was little. Some of my pictures I'm amazed at how skinny my little legs were. However this bathing suit is not very flattering.

Me at the beach

It wasn't until about puberty I started gaining weight, puberty was a really rough time for me. My breasts were coming in long before anyone else and really never stopped growing. I think due to depression I started to eat really badly, lots and lots of carbs on carbs on carbs. I actually wonder how much protein I consumed in my teen years, not much I'm sure. robin&matt4 At this point here I am both dealing with being overweight, feeling awkward and all those damn hormones. Having abnormal size breasts on top of it didn't help anything. Yeah that's me with the 90210 sweatshirt and pegged pants. I swear the early 90s were the worst fashion in history. robin90210.jpg As you know I lost a lot of weight during the end of high school and stayed pretty thin through the first year or two of college. I did none of this in a healthy way, I've never lost weight in a healthy way. Also, my decorating skills have drastically changed over the years.

But then of course the weight came back and kept coming back. And more and more. I know you'll be shocked to know I don't really have any full shots of me lately. And that's my history, in a nutshell. I've come to learn that this blog of mine isn't a health blog, it's not a weight loss blog but more of a journey to find out who I really am blog. Thank you for coming along for the ride.

  1. Robin, Thank you so much for sharing your history with us. You may not see it, but you are really beautiful. And the focus of your blog is perfect – because finding out about ourselves often involves changes in many areas, not just weight.

I have to say that I agree with you – the 90’s were a bad fashion decade!! Love all the posters on that wall!

Thanks for posting these pics! You may not like them, but they clearly show what a warm, funny, caring person you are. I’m also learning that losing weight is about so much more than just that: losing weight. I guess if it were, it’d be a lot easier to do.

@Barb, I don’t hate them all, I can appreciate some of them. Not the 90210 though, except for humor’s sake.

  3. Whether we admit it or not, most of our blogs are finding who we are blogs. Thanks for sharing a bit more about yourself, and what makes you who you are.

omg I love this post! Those pictures are sooo adorable! I laughed at the posters – I have a similar photo from same time period, haha.

I have kinda refrained from posting anything too emotional or revealing on my blog so far. This just shows how strong you really are that you are able to share this part of your journey with us.

@Josie, i’ve been blogging for like 4-5 years but then i’ve also always been way too honest for my own good.

I loved your history. It makes me want to do something similar…I think for me it would be a good way to accept my past and “see” it for what it was and then let it go and move forward. I’m in a place where i can go back to my old habits or push thru to finally get the last few lbs off and that would …..e ehm will be amazing.

I love your photo history. You are beautiful… eh ehm i mean gorgeous. Thanks for sharing your journey. I didn’t get the “journey” part until now. It is amazing.
