TOM

TOM = Time Of the Month
I prefer over PMS or Aunt Flo.
I never quite see it coming, you'd think I'd pay attention or keep track of it. I find myself listless for no reason, really crabby and none of my clothes feels comfortable. Then it occurs to me like an oncoming truck -- it's TOM!
This may be one of my biggest obstacles for getting to the gym because not only do I have no energy and I'm bloated but I also just want to sit and cry. Luckily I have an IUD (sorry if TMI) so I don't get anything else other than moodiness, bloating and loss of energy. Still, those 3 things are really hard to fight against.
I couldn't manage to write a post yesterday, I just had nothing to give, plus there are some other personal things going on my life. I couldn't manage to care about anything. So I just took the day off. Every stupid month I hit this wall where I can't seem to do anything and it's so frustrating, I don't want to lose all the work I did every 28 days.
I feel like I get like 3 really good days a month where I have energy, feel optimistic and have motivation. It's just one long struggle.
Don't mind me, I'm in a funk. I hate the funk. The funk is no fun and begs for chocolate. Why is there not a magic cure for this yet?

Yeah….there was time (like a year) when I “broke-up” with basil EVERY month about a week before TOM. Finally I put 2-and-2 together….but I still kept doing it. Now I start popping large doses of midol alternated with ibuprofin the moment I get ANY sign….it took the edge off enough that I did not go comatose or bitchroast. Hang in there babe.

@Jennifer Lynn, sadly i don’t think midol or ibruprofen helps with being cranky, bloated and tired. but it’s funny how you don’t seem to realize why you are doing it until after you go off on someone lol.

@Robin, Midol may with the bloated (diuretic) and tired (caff)….not the cranky (not directly anyway)….and my reactions were ridiculous….like pack all my stuff and load the car:)….nutso.

@Jennifer Lynn, wow! we’re lucky we don’t get locked up.

TOM is never fun. It not only messes with me physically but also emotionally. I always feel sorry for my poor family during the week leading up to it!
Take care and I hope you are done with it all soon!

I sooo know what you’re talking about…and hope tomorrow’s better for you.

Ugh. I hate TOM. Because I have a fibroid that totally messes with my hormones and other TOM symptoms, I’ve had to keep track since the diagnosis to make sure I’m regular and TOM isn’t too bad. It’s always worse up to 2 weeks before or the week during. I swear I only have about 1 good week a month, and that also depends on other outside factors. Very frustrating.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Robin, you can pull through this. Don’t let the funk get you down. Just keep your chin up, and keep at it. You know it will all pay off.

I’m in the same boat…that analogy just doesn’t sound right in reference to …well TOM. With out the obvious sign i didn’t realize i would still have all the other symptoms but sure do. Nothing else to say about that. It is what it is until it’s over.
